MSA provide Initial Survey Services on innovative Hart Marine Police Patrol Boats

Posted in Maritime Industry News by Admin 0

Mornington based boat builder, Hart Marine recently launched its latest vessel, a 12m Police Patrol Boat for the Victoria Water Police.  Hart Marine is well known for their 15m and 18m pilot boats with these vessels in operation around Australia and New Zealand.

Maritime Survey Australia’s surveyors have had a long association with Hart Marine, previously as surveyors with Transport Safety Victoria and now at MSA.

James Nolan has worked closely with Hart Marine’s Naval Architect through the Plan Approval process providing advice and support to achieve compliance with the NSCV.

To achieve the desired operational arrangement, MSA provided Hart Marine with support to obtain equivalent solution approval from AMSA to deliver to the Water Police the optimum deck layout needed to meet the required operational profile for police patrols.

During recent sea trials conducted with MSA onboard, the vessel performed above expectations achieving 35 knots with good seakeeping performance on a rough day on Port Phillip Bay.

The initial survey of the vessel is presently near completion with the vessel to be certified for Class 2B operations.

Hart Marine also have a 15m and a 17m Police Patrol Vessel presently under construction for Queensland Police which MSA are providing the initial survey services for.
