Home / Recent Projects / Georgianna McHaffie

Built in 1961 in Japan where she operated as a ferry named the “Hiashiao” (meaning Quick Water), the Georgianna McHaffie continues to exude charm and grace where she operates as a passenger charter vessel for dinner cruises and sight-seeing voyages in Western Port Bay VIC.

Maritime Survey Australia recently completed a periodic commercial survey for this magnificent vessel, surveyed for up to 150 passengers (1D and 1C).

Constructed by Hashihama Shipping Co, she is a 40 metre, all-weather, steel constructed Motor yacht and following extensive refurbishment in 1998, she has been well looked after and is still going strong. Sporting a 740hp Kinoshita turbo diesel in the engine room and a 1,2-tonne crane on deck, her versatility and fascinating construction history made her a pleasure to survey.

Periodic commercial Vessel surveys involve the survey of an existing vessel afloat, or out of water inspection, in accordance with the USL Code, NSCV or Class Society standards and includes:

  • Safety equipment
  • Electrical
  • Communication
  • Machinery and Engineering
  • Systems and Navigational Equipment

Our Marine Surveyors are accredited with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), members of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and members of the certifying authority of the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS).

We believe we have the most competitive rates offering the best value to Australian commercial vessel operators. The benefits of using Maritime Survey Australia ensure that the vessel operator has to engage with only one company. Unlike many of our competitors, our Surveyors are experienced Marine Engineers, Masters and Naval Architects accredited for ALL categories including periodic electrical and communication - meaning you do not need to engage with a third party to complete the survey. The survey is carried out accurately - interpreting standards & guidelines and applying rules and/or regulatory requirements.

The owner will be informed of any deficiencies discovered during the survey of a vessel that requires repair, replacement or action and actions will be recorded on a survey activity report - a copy of which will be given to the owner(s) representative at the time of the survey.

We will remain impartial in all of our business dealings, and we will never conduct business in a manner which could place our business integrity or impartiality at risk or question.
