Periodic Vessel Survey

The Replica Sailing Vessel, Enterprize

Home / Recent Projects / The Replica Sailing Vessel, Enterprize

Completed and launched in October 1997, the beautifully crafted Replica Enterprize has now long surpassed the age the original Enterprize would’ve been when she was wrecked on the bar of the Richmond river in Northern New South Wales in 1845.

An all-timber, carvel planked, two masted, topsail schooner, the Replica Enterprize was constructed using plans based on information gathered from a small number of sketches and paintings of the original vessel, as well as shipping registration details from the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England. Using traditional boat building methods, she was constructed using Australian and New Zealand grown timbers with much of this recycled from a variety of sources.

As a fully functional passenger charter vessel, the replica Enterprize offers Victorians the opportunity to experience life on board a nineteenth century sailing ship.

With a busy sailing schedule, ranging from one-hour sails around Port Phillip Bay, to week-long coastal voyages and a voyage to Hobart every second year, she is a credit to her owners and a testimony to the legacy of the original tall ship that brought the first settlers from Launceston to Melbourne in 1835.

We believe we have the most competitive rates offering the best value to Australian commercial vessel operators. The benefits of using Maritime Survey Australia ensure that the vessel operator has to engage with only one company.

Unlike many of our competitors, our Surveyors are experienced Marine Engineers, Masters and Naval Architects accredited for ALL categories including periodic electrical and communication - meaning you do not need to engage with a third party to complete the survey.

The survey is carried out accurately - interpreting standards & guidelines and applying rules and/or regulatory requirements.

The owner will be informed of any deficiencies discovered during the survey of a vessel that requires repair, replacement or action and actions will be recorded on a survey activity report - a copy of which will be given to the owner(s) representative at the time of the survey.

We will remain impartial in all of our business dealings, and we will never conduct business in a manner which could place our business integrity or impartiality at risk or question.
