Will I need to cut hole samples out of my existing fibreglass/GRP/FRP vessel to check if the hull complies for survey?

Generally vessels not previously holding valid survey certification will require the same plan submission requirements as for a new vessel.

This may require samples of the hull to be removed for testing at the owner’s expense. Experience has shown that the process of bringing anything other than the simplest of already built vessel into commercial survey is expensive, intrusive, and may fail at any stage. Persons contemplating this option should contract Maritime Survey Australia to discuss their options or arrange for an in-depth analysis prior to proceeding.
