Jesse Martin has purchased his old sailing vessel Lionheart, located in Yamba NSW. Jesse intends to operate sail training for young people on the 34-foot (10 m) S&S 34 sloop Lionheart-Mistral. Maritime Survey Australia is helping Jesse reach his goal as Surveyor Kieran Torti works through the process with him.
In 1999 as a 16 year old, Jesse inspired the nation, becoming the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe solo, non-stop, and unassisted. Jesse’s journey took approximately 11 months and he is keen to operate the vessel again. Jesse Martin remains the youngest solo non-stop unassisted sailor to cross opposite points of the globe in a single round the world voyage. His voyage inspired other young sailors, including Jessica Watson, to attempt similar circumnavigations
S&S 34 (Sparkman and Stephens) is a cruising and racing fibreglass monohull sailboat class. The intention is to operate this as a Class 2C Sail training vessel.
Good luck Jesse.
