A Certificate of Operation is a document issued to Domestic Commercial Vessel (DCV) operators, granting them permission to operate a DCV in Australian waters. It details operational limits, crewing requirements, and other operational parameters. It’s mandatory for vessels under the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012. It’s a condition of the Certificate of Operation that the vessel must have a safety management system that complies with the requirements in Marine Order 504. Certificates of Operation are issued by AMSA to the vessel operator and is normally valid for five years. Contact Maritime Survey Australia to renew your Certificate of Operation, or to assist with the development of a safety management system.
