What is a Certificate of Survey?

Back to all FAQs

A Certificate of Survey is an official document that confirms a vessel meets the safety and operational requirements set by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). This certificate is required for Domestic Commercial Vessels and is typically issued after a thorough inspection by an AMSA accredited marine surveyor. It’s essential for ensuring your vessel is legally compliant and safe to operate. It essentially validates that the vessel is fit for its intended use, as specified by AMSA. Certificates of survey are issued by AMSA to the vessel owner / operator and is normally valid for five years. Contact Maritime Survey Australia to renew your Certificate of Survey.
