Passenger Charter Vessel - Game Changer - Initial Commercial Vessel Survey

Maritime Survey Australia recently completed the Initial Commercial Vessel Survey for the passenger charter vessel “Game Changer” , a 12 meter, Z Bow Aluminium Catamaran owned and operated by Refuge Cove Cruises in Victoria.

Designed by Naval Architect, Damien Smith and built by Inverloch based boat builder, Alumarine, this innovative Class 1C, 50-passenger vessel is powered by 4x 300 Suzuki outboards and able to reach speeds of up to 38 knots.

Following successful sea trials and final detailing, she was delivered, launched and put straight to work providing ecotourism cruises around Wilsons Promontory.

Maritime Survey Australia worked with the builder and designer to ensure the vessel’s compliance with relevant survey standards for use as a commercial vessel.

This includes the following:

Design Approval Phase – Approval of design drawings for the vessel against design standards.
Construction Phase – Inspection during the vessel’s construction against the approved design.
Commissioning Phase – Testing and trialing the vessel and its systems to ensure it functions as designed and meets applicable standards including safety systems, type of safety equipment, assessment of intact and damage stability, and reliability of on-board machinery.
