Maritime Survey Australia initial Survey of the latest Hart Marine Marine Pilot for Port of Tauranga Limited
MSA recently completed the initial surveys on the latest Hart Marine pilot boat delivered to New Zealand operator Port of Tauranga. The pilot boat is a ORC173 (17m) installed with twin Doen waterjets and powered by Volvo Penta D16’s.
An interesting part of the design is the person overboard platform which was designed and constructed for protection from the waterjets for persons being recovered by the platform. This was significant departure from the platforms previously installed.
The initial survey was completed by MSA’s Maritime NZ(MNZ) recognised surveyors James Nolan and Ben Felton to the MNZ 40 Series Rules. An interesting fact, this was the first New Zealand commercial vessel to be issued with EIAPP’s certificates by MNZ following the Part 199 survey of the vessel and application to MNZ for the EIAPP certificates by MSA.
MSA surveyor David Wise-Mann also recently obtained his MNZ Surveyor Recognition allowing him to complete design approval, initial survey, and periodic survey of MNZ certified commercial vessels.
If you require MNZ design approval services or initial survey of vessel’s being constructed in Australia for operation and certification to MNZ rules, please do not hesitate to contact MSA for friendly advice or a quote for services.
